WH Simion & Partners has contributed the Romania chapter to the 13th edition of the International Comparative Legal Guide – Data Protection 2026.
The chapter provides a practical overview of Romania’s data protection framework, examining the legislation, regulatory requirements and enforcement considerations relevant to organisations operating in or targeting the Romanian market.
The contribution addresses key areas including individual rights, Data Protection Officer requirements, direct marketing and cookies, international data transfers, employee monitoring, data security and breach reporting, regulatory enforcement, artificial intelligence, and emerging data protection trends. It also considers the role and enforcement approach of Romania’s National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing.
