Michael Kyprianou Advocates and Legal Consultants gives advice when applying for a Work Permit and Residency in Malta
In this Article
Getting a work permit in Malta can be quite a difficult and long process. However, for those with the right knowledge and experience, the procedures can be shortened and applicants can stand a better chance at acquiring a work permit.
When planning to come to Malta for work, one must be sure of which applications to fill, together with applying with the right departments and authorities as well as planning the right documentation ahead. Applying by yourself may be challenging, but having a partner like us can make your life a whole lot easier. At Michael Kyprianou Advocates and Legal Consultants, we hand-hold our clients each step of the way so that we make sure the process is done correctly, in order for your application to be approved.
Work Permits and Residency in Malta – The Right Authorities and Paperwork
Before rushing to apply for a work permit and/or residency in Malta, one should know exactly which authorities and departments they should contact. Additionally, one should also be prepared with the right paperwork. If applicants do not send the correct documentation to the respective authorities in charge, they are at risk of lengthening the process considerably, or getting rejected altogether.
Work Permits and Residency in Malta – Choosing the Right Programme
Another point to keep in mind is the array of different permits or residency programmes one can apply for. What is the best programme for you? From the selection of working applications, one might get confused and apply wrongly for a programme that doesn’t apply to their needs. Furthermore, this may hinder future applications or at the very least lengthen the overall process of application.
The Rules are Strict – Someone Should Guide You
Whether applicants are in Malta or still abroad, they must be aware of the many rules and regulations governing the application process. These evidently apply to those who are new applicants or those who have been rejected. Here are some rules regarding the process as stipulated by Identity Malta:
- Identity Malta Agency may only proceed with applications where the Applicant is, either still in the country of residence (Still Abroad), or, holds legal status in Malta, by means of a valid residence permit or Visa, as specified in the applicable Subsidiary legislation under the Immigration Act (Cap 217 of the Laws of Malta).
- A residence permit is only valid if it is not expired and provided that the holder still holds the same immigration status for which it was issued.
- Online applications are only deemed as submitted, once the Applicant confirms the application details through the link received on the email provided and once the employer Submits that application following the Applicant’s approval.
- An application may only be processed if the information submitted is complete, as per S.L. 217.17 (16).
These are only some of the rules one must follow when applying for a work permit and/or residency in Malta. This is why having an established partner, such as Michael Kyprianou Advocates and Legal Consultants, is highly recommended in order to help with the application process.
